A fellow once told me that he spend half his money on stamps, women, and drink... and that he wasted the other half.

I too have a fondness for the PPIE 1915 stamps and cards. For me it started when my uncle gave me several post card albums my aunt had collected. She had attended the fair at the time, and was a friend with a sailor who was aboard the USS Oregon while it was in SF bay as part of the celebration. He would go ashore and send her cards from the model post exhibition.

(I'm amazed this is over 100+ years ago now!)

Wonderful card! That one has the Model P.O. cancel from the exposition itself. I have a fondness for the USS Oregon -- her tower still stands in Portland's Waterfront Park.

Here's another image of her on a card in my collection.
