I seem to recall this kind of item being discussed here before but I'll be darned if I can find the thread(s). Can anyone shed light on this item? Is it postal? Thanks in advance
Don

Yes, it's a Japanese postal card from the issue of 1876 (Ascher #12), postmarked Osaka, [Meiji] 17-1-19 = 19 January 1884. Curiously, the stamped return address uses the post-1871 spelling of Osaka, but the postmark has the pre-1871 spelling (different radical in the second character).

I recently posted a similar card from my collection here: https://goscf.com/t/73636&whichpage=2#673064 (yours is Type I, whereas mine is Type II).
