Whether or not you "wasted" $20 is your call. How much is the material worth to you for entertainment or education? Who cares what others think. Unless of course you are buying to make money which is a very, very tall order.
The "star inscribed in the circle" postmark is nice. You may want to see the Stampsmarter database for identification, or perhaps a knowledgeable person here will help.
