Hello, first post. Trying to figure out this cover is actually how I stumbled on this excellent forum. I believe the cancel says Bad Godesberg. If so how does it have a Brazilian stamp on a letter from Germany to NYC? The back of the envelope is completely blank so didn't post it. No return address anywhere. Any ideas or advice? thank you.

Just a bit of Hijinx,
I get covers regularly from collectors, who add a stamp or two for fun.
As long as the country of origin of the mail, has the correct franking, all is well and good.

People don't always follow through on their intentions. In this case the person intended to mail the letter before he or she left Brazil on a flight to Germany. After arriving in Germany he/she finally had time to mail the letter and it required a German stamp.

The "Estados Unidos" typed destination and printed "via aerea" on the envelope might indicate that the traveler originated from another South American country before arriving in Brazil.

Thanks for the reply. I did google Bad Godesburg and saw it was in Bonn so figured maybe it came from someone in the Brazilian consulate. So sounds like not a serious cover other than looking interesting.

"Via Aerea" and "Estados Unidos" are portuguese as well as spanish words.
