Go on Etsy.com if you have the stomach. People list things like this for $30,000

Roughly 25,330 times what it's actually worth (WHY would it cost $4.30 to ship?) but the funny thing is that if you hit the Make an offer tab it tells you that there have already been five offers and that your offer has to be at least $0.99. Not even worth that much!

Well I just learned something that rocks stamp collecting history as I thought that the first stamp was issued in 1840???

Description: My 1 cent very rare 1789~1798 George Washington stamp green facing right. Shipped with USPS First Class.

I'll try to give them the benefit of the doubt and imagine that they just copied the dates from the stamp and didn't actually think that the stamp was that old. I may be wrong. But they didn't even copy that information correctly: the inscription says "1789–1797"!

It appears to be unused, so it could be worth one cent as postage –– if you could deign to put such an ugly, damaged stamp on your mail.

We have had countless threads here about similar ebay lots - common stamps priced at huge prices. Nothing changes. None are sold.

Russ, you have proposed "There ought to be a law..." What law do you want? Who is the grand enforcer? What do you see coming from this thread that has not come from the countless other previous threads?

Come on, John. Where is your sense of humor.

Life is too short to be taken too seriously all of the time.

All applicants wishing to be considered the grand enforcer please apply to the Possum Lodge.

Russ,
Your initial post did not convey any tone of joviality.
You continually prod us to "practice positive philately", then you post this?
Sorry I wasted my time with it.

So True. Nothing new.

Odd what grabs people's attention sometimes.

I have a wicked sense of humor. I don't surf ebay so I don't catch this kind of stuff. I got a good laugh out of it.
That expression"there ought to be a law" goes back to my Grandma, who used to say that all the time. She was born in 1905, survived the great SanFrancico earthquake as an infant. It was usually spoken as in disbelief, incredulity.

I like to reply to those sellers with a sales pitch. In this case I'd part with my 1¢ Prexies for $50 each allowing the seller to make $199 per stamp :)
