I have an update to provide on this. Boy did I curse myself when I said I "have in my possession". Check out this forum post for a summary of how the shipment arrived without the #292 :( https://goscf.com/t/76233

Here are the photos of taking care of the #293 that survived shipment...

The dunking tub filled with cool Colorado tap water and the 293 in waiting

Carefully showing the back, note the hinge remnant

The stamp goes in the tub, I had it sit for about 5 minutes

After pulling the stamp out, success, two pieces left behind without any pulling necessary

I let the 293 sit on a paper towel and patted dry carefully, avoiding perf snagging

Same view of reverse after most of the stamp is dry

Back in the 102 card for temporary storage until it gets in my Volume I, Mystic American Heirloom Hingeless Album

Thanks again for all your advice and encouragement. Fingers crossed I get a resolution to the #292 fiasco and acquire an even better copy down the road.

I saw your other post and offered my 2c worth over there. I did not put 2 and 2 together ---- I didn't know that was you. I am glad the 293 worked out - no reason it wouldn't, short of a screw up. I hope the issue with the 292 gets resolved to your satisfaction, too. Looks like you now have a nice 293 now.
