Thank you Rod222 for posting the link to various Romania "cinderellas"
Was unaware of the two versions of the 10 bani issue.
Believe some (many?) of the "social assistance" issues were also used as fiscal stamps.

Greetings.
Recently began working through a small collection of early 20C Romanian stamps. Using the Scott catalogue pending receipt of a Romania specialty catalogue. Working to identify potential varieties (i.e., perforations, watermarks, paper type, shades, vignette size, etc.)
Am writing to ask if anyone else on SCF has a similar interest. And if so, is aware of a database or matrix summarizing the varieties for the three King Ferdinand series (per Scott, 1920 - 22, 1920 - 26, and 1926).
Thanks in advance.

Quote: Believe some (many?) of the "social assistance" issues were also used as fiscal stamps. Not aware of that, if you find a confirmation source, I would welcome that. If you are going down the Rabbit Hole of Romania Philately, you need to conquer first, the Perforation guages A,B,C.D, and K Paper thicknesses and varieties. It is almost endless. The 25 Bani also have differing prints. I have been collecting Romania for 15 years, certainly ask any questions and I'll try to assist You'll need 5-10 stamp albums to cover it all To whet your appetite and a post from 2009 from an early mentor, Jay T Carrigan |

King Ferdinand. My route I Employ Scott and Steiner exclusively, I note varieties and place them on personal Album pages where required. I find that runs smoothly with placement, sales of duplicates, Catalogue familiarity etc. Some of my King Ferdinand |

Thank you for the very informative posting. Especially appreciate the perforation codes. Have seen multiple references to this coding system, but never the legend.
Thanks for posting the catalogue extract re the "Assistenta Sociala" issues from Jay T Carrigan, one of our hobby's legendary personalities.
Awaiting delivery of the Lazar Carjan catalogue. (The lt green cover.) Believe it was published in 2006.
Lastly, appreciate you sharing some samples from your collection. Beautiful material.

Are you aware of Don Heller's very extensive bibliography entitled "Philatelic Literature on Romania". Available online.

Great! Please offer a road test, and possibly a page example scan from the King Ferdinand , I really would like an English Catalogue myself. Regarding my comment re possible fiscal use of the PT3 "Charity stamp:
From the Scott catalogue: "Nos. RA 13, RA 14, and RA 15 are the only stamps of type PT3 issued for postal purposes. Other denominations were used fiscally."
RA 13 10 bani green (1921-24). RA 14 = 25 bani black (1921-24). RA 15 = 25 bani black (1928).
I have not personally seen a PT3 stamp used in a fiscal application. although I have read claims re the alleged use fiscally on numerous philatelic discussion sites.
As an aside, the "Assistance/Charity" link on the very informative website "revenues.ro" is blank.
Lastly, given my recent enrollment in The Revenue Society (revenuesociety.org.uk) will post the question to this group.
Cheers.

I use "The Bible" too and would also be interested in that new one if it's even close to the detail... |
