I am a new registered bidder, looking at learning the ropes.
Any member familiar with the set up?

I am used to Phoenix Auction which I really enjoy

Abacus seems clunky.

1. Current auction is over 2 days, I cannot bid on tomorrows auction
so I have to wait till tomorrows opening
That is a pain

2. The interface is great, however the auctioneer is only on video for 1 lot, then you have to refresh, lose the sound, turn on the sound again for each lot. Frustrating.

A spot of levity today, there was two bidders, room and online,
the online bidder won, to the sound of a buzzer.
The auctioneer said "Aha! the first Bong of the day!"
to audible giggles from the room.

Red face auctioneer carried on.......

Hi Rod,

Since the new website I've only bid on one lot and it wasn't in a live situation.

Agree with the clunky observation but as far losing sound etc. let them know because that's good constructive criticism that they can take on board.

Thanks Bobby.

Update
1. I am registered with Abacus
2. To bid after Auction opens (2 days) no matter, one has to register again, to get a bid paddle.
3.after ticking several boxes, "read the rules" etc , Credit card details etc
one can bid.

At open auction begin, you cannot bid on the Auction list for the next 10 bid numbers subsequent to the auctioneers current number.

You must bid in the online window.

I'll wait next week before I bring it up with Drew regarding the Refresh Volume problem.

Auctioneer suggested gangbuster prices, yet the share market is diving, something amiss here I feel.

Thanks for your support

If the expectant result goes to my thinking, one would be up for
and extra c$250

Buyers Fee 20%
Shipping $100
Packing $10
Insurance $10

Rod, if the $100 shipping is for those Billigs catalogues, consider it a bargain.

An Australian auction house (who will remain nameless, but it wasn't Abacus) charged me $13.75 to return a single stamp.

Given the lockdowns, gangbuster prices seem to be the norm right now.

Phoenix and Abacus have offered very reasonable shipping.
I feel so comfortable with Phoenix, so laid back.
But they do not have the quality Literature like Abacus.

If I am outbid, I'll default to the Rowe Encyclopaedias.

So much good literature there, I was salivating.

By the way, Abacus broadcasts the winning bid paddle, and the under bidder number, to prevent any ideas of shill bidding.
