Hello all,

I'm wondering if there is someone who can tell me something about this stamp. I bought a small collection with some cool stamps in it, but I never have seen this postage mark before.

Your cancel is a portion of a "duplex" handstamp cancel (the circular date stamp and the killer are duplexed or paired together), made of steel, so often called a "steel duplex" cancel. Here is a more complete example on a card and a handstamp device, showing the curvature of the killer matches the circumference of the entire device.

The red line is a natural part of the plate manufacturing and explained here. These are hyped upon the gullible on ebay, but are neither rare nor valuable:

Great. Thank you.

So, can we say something about any value?

Hi Michael, and welcome to the forum. Sorry, but there is very little value since the stamp is badly damaged. The red line is a guideline and most collectors would shy away from these. Also the perforations on the top have a bad problem.

Thank you for the very kind response.

I'm from the Netherlands. I collect old dutch stamps before 1920. Mint and fresh. Not used. *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

I bought a collection from my friend's old grandfather. But to be fair.. I don't know anything about it. Maybe there is someone out here that can take a fast look..
