Early into the auction and prices realized are blowing past estimates big time. Looks like slim pickins' for any bargains :(

Yup. I have my eye on two lots but I do not need them bad enough to get into a heated battle. Not even a lukewarm/tepid battle. |

I was watching and waiting for my items and I certainly agree with you. The US stuff both collections and box lots were mostly selling above estimates and sometimes way above estimates. When they got to the good WW collections lots 56,86 and 87 the estimates seemed reasonable and bidding was also reasonable except for 87. I don't buy US so I'm not a good judge of value but I wonder does Rasdale estimate US material too low and do better estimates on the WW or is the US just hot? |

Most of the US lots went for high prices. Lot one went for over 10K plus the juice which seems very high for what you got. I did get 3 smaller lots for reasonable prices. People are still going crazy with their bidding. I hate to see what the Kelleher collections will go for in March/April. Need to hit the lottery to buy some of these lately |

I think the overall market has moved up in the last year. Last February this lot from Kelliher went for $20K. Rasdale lot 87 was nice but not worth more than the Kelliher lot. It was estimated at $7k and I thought $12K was fair but $22K? |

These estimate/hammer prices aren't only low for US lots. A French lot (246), estimated at $3.5K just got hammered down for $7K plus tip. I'm waiting for three lots to come up but am already resigned to the likelihood of them closing way above what I'm willing to bid. I wish they had sound...I keep going into a trance every ten lots or so... |

Not to beat the dead horse again but a big reason why I am not willing to engage in combat over any of these lots is the lack of scans. I was looking at a couple of lots that consisted of quite a few binders and one was two cartons of material. There were five scans for one and not much more for another. I might as well just go to MGM and play the slots. |

The lack of sound drives me nuts. When they take a 5 minute break you can't move because you can't tell when they'll restart if you're not in front of the screen. |

I agree with Rodgcam. Difficult to put down that kind of money with so little idea of what you are getting. I know there is a lot negative about ebay, but at least they show almost everything including the backs of hinged and lightly hinged mint stamps |

Well the last lot I was interested in had an estimate of $250 and went to the floor for $950 plus tip. |

Some of the country collections went for reasonable vs. suggested bid, others were a little crazy. Picked up just one lot of the several I was eyeing, which was fine as I bought quite a few at Sparks on Thursday.

^^ Sparks was nice! Loved the fast movement of the lots, no bsing around with going, going, final call, final call, begging for another bid. Got in, got my one lot I wanted and went for a hike afterwards :) |

Wonder who ponyed up the 22K plus tip for the 9 Vol Minkus worldwide lot # 87. I watched that go down yesterday. Nice looking collection with tons of material. WOW |
