That would be Rod...I told him I would dig but I haven't found it yet, so you'll get to be the hero. That, and one more stamp out your door. Baby steps... Collin |

Collin, hindsight is 20/20..it would have been a lot more merciful if I had gotten rid of the low value heavy duplication as I went along over the years...as a collector progresses..they just can not hang on to the under 50 cent catalog stuff..on the chance that a collector might need one out of several thousand...i will have a TRUCK Load for town recycling Wednesday..cardboard boxs and paper !! |

No "Stamp" paper, I hope! I see your point on the catalogue minimum stuff, but I'm not keeping it on the odd chance someone else might want it. For some inexplicable reason, I still want it. If I had only kept one mint and one used example of everything, I wouldn't have any Swiss razor cancels (which I didn't know to look for the first time I sorted my first bigger Switzerland lot). I could give you a dozen more examples just like that one, including a couple since joining here. (Thanks to David for info on the blackout cancels, for example.) More power to you, though. I wish you luck on it. Collin |

Here's one to ponder. If collectors tossed all the min. value stamps. Would they still be min. value. |

Revstampman, interesting..i remember reading in Linns years ago that one collector suggested burning the multiples of the commonest stuff..for years I had packets of 50 and 100 of the same stamps and no one wanted them...Yes, Henry Gitners group in Middletown would buy Everything..but its a 70 mile ride each way and I have no other reason to travel to Middletown New York ..most of them would not justify the gas used to travel....i just went through a full 12 months of settling my fathers estate...and I would not want to burden my kids with disposing of the bulk..i will still have my albums and stockbooks and 102 cards of my better duplicates for "trade" ! |

Ever since I read the original thread about this 3g stamp, I have been checking out every collection with Austria that I could. I saw 2 in the first 3 days and never one since! Thanks for providing my OCD with another thing to check up on! |

I went through this searching process for Aden SG64, QE2 1shilling 25cents blue and black. I don't collect QE2 Aden, but I found the entire set except for this value, MNH, with all shades, in an old catalogue I bought. I couldn't find a MNH example of this for a couple of years, then bought a block of 9 on ebay! If anyone fancies a block of seven or eight, drop me an email. The price will be reasonable......... |

Dear Phil, the world's rarest common stamp arrived Isn't she lovely? She had some problems at immigration, the postmark KIROBHE was not understood. She has settled well in West Australia, and is looking forward to having her first trip to the beach in her new bikini. Note: SG has realised her scarcity and has upped her CV to GBP 1.10! Thanks a bunch Phil. |
