The few pre-1949 China stamps I have currently take up a few rows in a random stockbook. I'd like to go deeper, so far a quick survey of albums and pages turns up these choices for Imperial and Republic China:

Pre-made
  • Scott: 1878-1949, Provinces 1865-1950
  • Minkus: 1878-1949
  • Palo: 1878-1949, Occupation 1942-1945, Provinces 1915-1949, Treaty Ports 1893-1899

Download and DIY
  • China Stamp Society: 1878-1949, Manchukuo, Occupation 1941-1945, Provinces 1927-1949
  • Steiner: (presumably like Palo, for obvious reasons)
  • My own design, based on Chan or Ma/CSS

The other big names (Davo, Lighthouse, Schaubek) only offer PRC. Am I missing any? Does anyone have experience with any of these choices? Recommendations? Warnings? Thoughts and words of wisdom? Thanks.

Stumbled upon an old post, that lets me add to the pre-printed list:

  • D&O Trading: Imperial China, Republic of China, Republic of China Provincial Issues, Japanese Occupation, Manchukuo, Manchukuo Local Overprints, each according to the Chan, Kerr, and/or Luzitano catalogs.

I bought Scott specialty pages for China, PRC, Taiwan last year. They worked out well, but nothing to compare against. I have the Steiner pages, too, but haven't used (printed) them.
