On June 15, 1989 Germany and Ireland jointly issued stamps (Ger.: Mi #1424, Ire.: Hib #C520) to commemorate the 1300th anniversary of the martyrdom of Irish missionaries St. Killian, St. Totnan and St. Colman, who were killed in Germany.

Resistence fighters s/s

The souvenir sheet remember 40 years of passment of three heroes of anti-nazi resistence, organized in the group known as Red Orchestra.

Arvid Harnack (1901-1942) was a German jurist, Marxist economist and resistance fighter in Nazi Germany. He and his American-born wife, Mildred Harnack, were executed by the Nazi regime in 1942.

Harro Schulze-Boysen (1909-1942) was a left-wing German publicist and Luftwaffe officer during World War II. He was arrested and executed in 1942.

John Sieg (1903-1942) was a German Communist railroad worker and journalist who publicized Nazi atrocities through the underground Communist press. On October 15, 1942, following severe mistreatment, he hanged himself in his cell.

Three, mostly-submerged freestyle competitors are depicted on Berlin's August 17, 1978 40 pf stamp (Mi #571) commemorating the World Swimming Championships.

On October 12, 1964 Netherlands issued this 15c stamp (Sc #430) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of BENELUX. Depicted on the stamp are King Baudouin (1930-1993) of Belgium, Queen Juliana (1909-2004) of the Netherlands, and Grand Duchess Charlotte (1896-1985) of Luxembourg.
