This imaging technique was pioneered by British photographer and inventor Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904), who did photographic studies of humans and animals in motion.

These two 5 d stamps (Sc #s L1 and L6) of Australian Antarctic Territory were issued on December 16, 1959 (#L1) and July 5, 1961 (#L6). They commemorate the 1908-9 Shackleton Expedition at the South Magnetic Pole. The brown stamp is part of a 4-stamp set with the 2 lower values issued with surcharges. The close-up pic shows an off-center, two-part (first white, then black) overprint with part of the "4" of " 4 D" being exposed.
