This is a link to a decent mint #293 bought today. Being sent express mail Monday.

Issues here and there but looks decent.

Stamps - are you sure about the mintness? Looks to have several traces of cancels.

Geoff, yeah I noticed that too. It may well be a rescued used copy but it looks good to me. I knew I'd need to pick one near this pricing area. It's my last stamp in the Trans Mississippi series I needed and two others have light cancel issues. It works for me.

Glad you, found it. If it were me, given the description, I'd have a negotiation about the price.

Well done you !
Very brave to show such a purchase, doesn't happen often.

I cannot even imagine spending that amount on a postage stamp.
I am in awe.

What grates me, is the vendors use of "Mint"
I am not aware of US Philatelic standards, but that to me, is a blatant lie.

A mint would go for over $1000.
This isn't mint. There are signs of cancellations on all the boundaries which is where it probably overlapped the envelope. Guessing it was scrubbed and went harsh on the left corner.

The stamp corner noted as rounded, is flat out torn. Damaged.

It was def hinged, note the uneven beige on the back.

Gary is a good dealer. But this is a bit of a reach in stamp marketing or oversight. I'm sure a conversation with him about the condition/description after you receive it can be resolved.

Hinged and not original gum + damaged = used valuation. Not mint.

Posner knows better than to advertise a Mmused stamp as mint.

Does the right side look like perfs added/reperforated to anyone else?

In addition to the above, it might well be reperforated at right.

Sorry but Mint No Gum is not Mint. And I agree with others. It's definitely used. Especially on the left side in the margin you can see traces of a very light cancel.

Personally I would have held out for a better copy.

Would those who suspect that this may be reperfed along one edge please give a little more detail as to what led to their concerns. Or point to other resources on reperfing. I generally don't have stamps that are worth "faking/improving" but I would like to know more.

Thanks

Guessing perf tips on right don't look torn separated, but instead straight laced.

I also imagine if you open this in a photo editing software and transpose the left over right there will be disparity. Also reference stanps can be used.

These types of stamps were common for centering improvement, straight edge removal, and a host of other fault hiding reasons.

Look at the perfs on the other three sides and see how alike they appear in relation to each other. They are not identical, but all three sides have a similar appearance. Then look at the right side. Note how different the shape of the holes is compared to the other three sides. And the fact that they are uneven.
