Hello Everyone, so I bought an old U.S. postal stationary collection and the envelopes are all identified with 4 numbers as identify for that period of time. Scott's re-numbered the listing some time before I started to collect stamps. I am looking for some type of crosswalk document that show the old number to the new number system. It would be nice to have copy, since I share my knowledge with other club members as my own cost.
The 1935 Scott has envelopes numbered beginning with 2301 for the 1853-55 issue. Columbian issue starts at 2585. Envelops end with 1932 Sesquicentennial issue as 2758-2760 Wrappers are 3000-3048 Letter sheet is 3150
Air post is 2900-1, (5c blue, 8c olive green) Officials are 3200-65, wrappers 3272-75
If the Postal Stationery collection is from an old time collector, it is also possible the number is a Thorp or Thorp-Bartels number. Specialized postal stationery collectors used those numbers for identification in the 1940s and 1950s, just as they now use the United Postal Stationery Society (UPSS) numbers now.
