Hi It looks like ebay changed again. When I used to go to print packing slip and more, I could find the buyers email address. Today, I tired it, and no luck. There is a new format. Was everyones changed? Any ideas? Thanks Danny

There have been changes over the years to keep buyers and sellers from communication outside of ebay. Why need the email when you can contact via ebay messaging. This is ebay income protection. I suggest you do what many sellers do, include their own email for the buyer in the shipment. Otherwise you can ask the buyer for the information and explain why via snail mail but on in ebay messaging. |

Yes, they no longer show email addresses. They also don't like to have email addresses in ebay messages. So you have to communicate through ebay only. |

I keep a spreadsheet listing everyone I buy from, even if it's a one-time affair. Part of that sheet is all of the information the seller provides about themselves - real name, address, email, website, etc. Not everyone does full disclosure, but the major, reputable players do. It has come in very handy more than once, both for ease of contact and to remind me how many times and when I've dealt with someone and how that turned out. I can also classify sellers so I know who to avoid, be cautious about, or can trust.
YMMV - "Your mileage may vary". |

I'm with uboatnut, and glad to see I am not the only one who keeps track of the ebay sellers I have done business with. I think every serious ebay seller should include either a business card or a printed flyer identifying themselves and include all their desired contact information with each shipment. Another new and annoying feature which ebay has added recently is that they do not always pass along the information which the user can enter during the PayPal transaction under Instructions to seller. This still appears in some messages, but I suspect that these are sellers who are not yet enrolled in the ebay Managed Payment plan. In addition, many of the PayPal emails I received now show that I made the purchase from ebay and no identification of who the merchant is. In the past, I have tried to use these emails as a simply way to track the receipt of purchases. Now I have to use other methods. Mike |

Could NOT agree more! There are times when I am particularly busy making purchases on ebay. If I have 10 or 20 incoming purchases, I like to ID them by name/ID. It used to be such a pleasant experience on ebay. Not so much anymore. I feel used. I feel like a commodity. Billionaires making lots of little money off of Regular Joe, and doing all they can to up their profits even more. [/rant] |

I do believe that ebay wants you to think of them as the seller much like Amazon does. Very much like Amazon does. The psychology may not work as well in the stamp category as it would if you were buying a set of screwdrivers but the intent is the same. |

As a buyer, I am grateful that my email address is not displayed. There are two things that will get a seller on my 'do not buy from' list very quickly; spam me and/or beg me to leave them feedback in the ebay Feedback system. Don |

It's actually quite interesting that if you even try to send your email through the ebay messenger an error will occur, saying that you can't send email addresses through the chat. I've had someone go around that by sending a picture of their email address written down. It's wonky— if I trust a seller just let me contact them how I like please! |

ebay disallows emails because people will simply make contact outside of ebay and then make deals (in which case they do not get paid). They run a simple algorithm which detects the @ symbol, flags it, and generates an error message. They also flag/reject other words and strings which they feel are 'work-arounds' to their rules. ebay tries so hard to stay alive (popular) they will do anything to keep up with the sources of their income to stay intact, they simply count every penny to keep up, |
