On September 14, 1955 the Federal Republic of Germany issued a two-stamp, semi-postal set commemorating the WESTROPA 1955 Stamp Exhibition in Duesseldorf. Each of these stamps shows a philatelic tool. The 20 + 3 pf value depicts a pair of stamp tongs, and the 10 + 5 pf stamp (Mi #217), shown here, features a magnifying glass.  |

Here is Germany's January 2, 2013 75c stamp (Mi #2977) commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Elysee Treaty. The treaty is one of friendship and calls for regular consultations between the two countries on all important questions involving defense, education and youth issues.  |

On October 9, 2003 Germany issued this 1.44 euros stamp (Mi #2367) commemorating the 90th anniversary of the founding of the German Life Saving Association (DLRG) in Leipzig (1913). Stamp depicts two DLRG employees, one with binoculars, observing a turbulent water surface. From wikipedia, "The most urgent goal of the DLRG is the creation and promotion of all activities used to fight drowning."  |
