This January 3, 2011 55c + 25c value (Mi #2837) of Germany is from the set of four semi-postal charity stamps featuring the cartoon themes of Loriot. This stamp depicts two men at the race track.

From wikipedia, "Bernard-Viktor Christoph-Carl von Buelow (1923-2011), known as Vicco von Buelow or Loriot, was a German comedian, humorist, cartoonist, film director, actor and writer."

The stamp set was issued about 8 month's before Loriot's death.

On February 3, 1982 Bahamas issued a set of four stamps commemorating the centenary of Dr. Robert Koch's discovery of the tubercle bacillus. The 21c value (Sc #507) of this set, shown here, depicts an old and a contemporary microscope.

Here is the one schillingi value (Sc #214) from Tanzania's December 1, 1982 set of four stamps commemorating the discovery of the TB bacillus. Dr. Robert Koch, discoverer of the TBC is shown with his microscope.

On July 26, 1993 Guyana issued a miniature sheet of nine different 'Science and Medicine' $50 stamps. One of these stamps (Sc #2677c) features Dr. Hideyo Noguchi (1876-1928) and his microscope.

From wikipedia, "Noguchi's most famous contribution is his identification of the causative agent of syphilis (the bacterium Treponema palladium) in the brain tissues of patients suffering from partial paralysis due to meningoencephalitis."

This August 30, 1986 60 yen stamp (Sc #1701) was issued by Japan to commemorate the 11th Conference of Electron Microscopy held in Kyoto. Stamp depicts a schematic diagram of beam guidance through an electron microscope.
