Thomas, unfortunately for the general collector, all these Kishangarh have been used for revenue, not postage, purposes. The last stamp isn't from Kishangarh. It seems to be inscribed in Gujarati, so I'd guess it's from one of the States in the Kathiawar Peninsula - but don't ask me which one! Here is a Kishangarh item which arrived for me today, SG 38: If a block of seven seems a bit eccentric, there is an explanation. These are the two bottom rows of the sheet, and Gibbons says that the stamp from the missing position was always torn out of the sheets before issue, possibly because the cliché was defective. It must have been pretty bad. Kishangarh let some other, rather less than perfect, stamps through. |

the one on the right looks to be out of place for a block of 6? plus it only eccentric to keep 7 stamps as you know :) so how much did you pay for the whole lot :) |

Fear not: $35 for the seven. I'm not as much a Kishangarh-fancier as all that. |

Not convinced this is one of mine. Looks more like Arabic to me. Are you sure it's an Ugly? |

I have absolutely no idea what it is, I was researching the "well wisher" plant (Welwitschia) of Namibia, when I saw an image of a German stamp with a certificate on Google, when I clicked on "enlarge image" this peculiar item popped up Three times the same thing happened. So of course, I throw it over to the professor of primitives. |

Looks vaguely Elvish. So, that means Finnish or Scandinavian perhaps as that is where Tolkien created Elvish from, Finland. |

Positive it's Arabic. Can't make out a place name or value in it. Life's too short to chase it through my Arabic dictionary - Sorry! |

Knowing what you're looking at can pay dividends with any are of stamp collecting, and it certainly does in the Indian States. I just received these two copies of Bhor SG 1 - my avatar with nice village postmarks, rather than the usual Bhor Town CTO cancels I won't be able to retire on them, but properly priced, they would have set me back a couple of hundred dollars, rather than the 20 I paid for 'em. |
