Hello JayR101! great to know we are on the same collecting thread, both OFEC, but for me it's OFEC based on the countries listed in year 2007 World Atlas. This would be my OFEC stamp album So Hongkong stamps wouldnt be in my OFEC album.. instead it would end up in my OFPC stamp album (One From Previous Country) together with Straits Settlements, Malaya and others like Yugoslavia and USSR Cut off is still 2007 World Atlas country listing Finally theres my JBS Album, short for "Just Beautiful Stamps" these are stamps I specially like for a variety of reasons or for no reason at all Otherwise it's really difficult to start a collection with no end in sight |

Once you include the Indian States, you're on a hiding to nothing. Two States that haven't yet made it to the catalogues, but certainly issued stamps, are Kotah and Tonk. You will need really deep pockets to fill those gaps. On the other hand, you can knock off two whole 'countries', Jasdan and Wadhwan, with single stamps - and the outlay won't be too breathtaking. |

Quote: Close - very close - but no cigar, How do you know? you have never seen a postage stamp from Tonk. I think we have unveiled an interloper from the planet discriminatron. Time to unholster the blue ray evaporater |

Ahem! Ahem! The round thing is inscribed around the outer ring 'State of Tonk 1881 Seal Appeals Court'. I remain sceptical, but not discriminatory ... |

Quote: The closest to Tonk I had was the Tonka truck I had as a kid :) Tonka Trucks was actually from Minnetonka, Minnesota. |

Kotah and Tonk are in the present State of Rajasthan, which under the British was known as Rapjutana. It stretches out to the west from New Delhi, and much of it is desert. Both Tonk and Kotah are interesting. The ruling family of the old Tonk State were Muslims, in an overwhelmingly Hindu area. Kotah, in the south of Rajasthan, lost a large slab of its territory early in the 19th century, when a general mutinied and seized control of what became the state of Jhalawar, which also issued stamps: (And that's the complete country, on a simplified basis anyway) Eventually, Jhalawar was compelled to give back a large part of the territory it gained from Kotah. The stamps of both Kotah and Tonk are rare. Sorry: I'd love to be able to show them, but |
