Anyone have any experience with the "Rare U.S. Stamp Investment Portfolio" produced late 80's - early 90s? I am looking through an accumulation for a friend that includes 2 of these small albums. 25-30 pages each. I have seen these in a couple auctions, one realized $65 for both albums, and the other had comments about the albums having regummed, torn, creased, & stained stamps within. All stamps are "mint" with only a few showing obvious hinge evidence. Most are centered F or F-VF, a handful with obvious damage.

earlier ones: 230-31, 238, 286, 288, 298, 328-30. 549-50 614-20

In my opinion most things which are marketed as 'collectables' are not good collectables; most things marketed as an 'investment' are not good investments.

Agreed, Don: you won't be partying much with the proceeds of all the "rare" under $10 stamps within!

Finished going through the box. Two good finds (not in the "investment" albums:
1. open but mostly full red white & blue package of Dennison prefolded greenish hinges, no. 48-064, price 59 cents

2. US #319g booklet, no front cover, all stamps appear never hinged: 2 complete panes of 6, 1 pane of 6 with one stamp with a huge section torn out, one pane with just two stamps remaining.
