Hi my American friends.
Here is a R163 {???} revenue stamp from 1898.
The last "8" is missing, or is that just a "189" number..???

The cancel was printed that way on purpose. The month, day and last digit of the year were entered by hand or the stamp received a handstamp cancel.

Interesting ericjackson..I would have never guessed that...Thought it was just a year 1898 with the "8" missing.
