Austria Nedwspaper Stamp (Revenue)

I found this little guy in a stack of stamps that have been in my closet for many a year.

I can only surmise that this is a Newspaper Tax Stamp from Austria.

I cannot find it listed in my copy of Scotts' WW Vol 1 catalog.

Do any of your folks that have more data base in your head know what issue date, catalog number,any other relevant data on this item?

I would be most thankful.

This is a documentary/general revenue stamp of Austria, series of 1877, as noted on the stamp. In the Erler/Hagn Catalogue of the Adhesive Revenue Stamps of Austria it is #133 with a value of US .05.

My edition of the catalog is old (1986) but it does give the indication that your stamp is one of the more common values of the 1877 series.
