As far as I know, the largest postage stamps are Imperial Chinese Special Delivery stamps (see Scott E1-E10) which come in 4 sections. Size is about 7.5" (190.5 mm x x 3" (76.2 mm). |

Quote: BeeSee, To bad there is not a clearer pic of the Canadian roof top stamp. That would now be the largest postage stamp, but being on a roof if not regularly maintenance it wouldn't survive. Here's the Google Maps location for the huge stamp - 349 W. Georgia St., Vancouver, BC. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...427&t=h&z=20It's on the roof of Canada Post's Vancouver Mail Processing Plant. It shares the rooftop with a heliport, and half a basketball court (the heliport has taken over one end of the court, so the other end has the only basket ...). Ryan |

Funny thing is they replaced the previous stamp, which was the 45c "Flag over building" with a smaller stamp that does not exist - a "permanent" Flag over Ottawa Post Office. The actual issued stamp in 2003 is this: |

Quote: Nice try Rod222, but I think those are 4 stamps that are se-tenant No, technically it is one stamp that is divided into four sections. But I guess it depends on your definition of "technically". If you number the sections #1-#4 from left to right: #4 is canceled and given to the mailer as a receipt. #2-3 are canceled, attached to the letter, canceled again upon arriving at destination post office -- #3 is then detached from letter and kept at destination PO -- #2 is signed by recipient, detached from letter, returned to original PO #1 is kept in the original booklet at the original PO A fully intact stamp (all 4 sections still together) is actually quite rare. Rod, is that yours, or did you pilfer the pic? k |

Bee See: That stamp does not portray the Ottawa Post Office. That is Canada Post's Headquarters building. No stamps nor post office there... and unless you have a security pass, you aren't getting in! David |

Pilfer ??? Nay, I "borrowed" it from The Stanley Gibbons Encyclopedia at least, my original scan was, I think this image was the result of a discussion on another NG, I once belonged to IIRC. This stamp was quoted as the largest in 1985 by the esteemed James Mackay. I would think Bhutan may have overtaken it in the ensuing years. It still is, in my estimation a genuine stamp a lot of others test the grey area of labels. |

Here is what appears to be the world's largest stamp. It is an illusion, however, this is just a normal stamp out side the Lilliputian HQ in Belfast. |

This Canadian Christmas stamp of 1983 is actually larger than the Yemen cat stamp, it measures 4 3/8" x 3 1/2" (115mm x 90mm). It is listed as a B.O.B. item in as #1-ST in the Canadian Unitrade Catalogue. It (and a different style issued in 1984) were sold to the public as genuine postage stamps, so SHOULD have full Scott / Unitrade numbers, but do not. |
