I wonder what the possibility is that one of the unissued Christmas stamps 90¢ #1535ii should make its way from the "flea market" near Nova Scotia's most prominent stamp dealer onto an envelope mailed from "BUR..." and no legible date?
Apparently, you can obtain one from Astrabay in Comox, BC, on ebay: #324710208668.
Burnaby, BC? Look out for backdated cancelled stamps that are for very scarce to non-existent used stamps. Such stamps need to be expertized to be legitimate. Hasn't there been some rare stamp FDCs that are questionable from BC which may have been privately created with backdated BC cancels?
This would be incorrect, These square Rectangular Canadian Postmarks, have, in the second line BUREAU DE POSTE / POST OFFICE The line underneath is the cancelling office.
Rod222 got the cancel correct. And it was not backdated as it was mailed in 2021 as the date indicates. So someone bought some from auction, mailed a cover at a Shoppers Drug Mart or Post office and had them hand cancel it, but ever so lightly as to not show detail as you cant get a P.O. # off the cancel. But the year date gives it away to anyone knowledgeable. No big deal, so it may be the first one to be used and cancelled. So instead of a catalogue value of $200.00 mint its now worth a quarter of that used? Not the first time someone did something like this. Just know what your buying.
Interesting that this was just now supposedly discovered after so many years and that it was on the scarcer 1535ii (1000) rather than the scarce 1534ii (2500).
Jogill, it is postmarked 2021. Yes we all heard the three unissued sheets discovered at a flea market story. Apparently all 90c were broken down into corners, blocks or singles but lo and behold 17 other sheets showed up at a dealers door. Total of 20 sheets x 50 each, to get that 1000 total. And the 52c @ 2500. That equals 50 sheets or one bundle. And attached is a picture of my own sheet. Mike
None of these stamps have been used within period. They are considered not to have been post office issued. Due to intact selvedge printer information found on the lower value, they are believed to may have been leaked out of the Canada Post Philatelic Centre, Antigonish, NS.
