I have a US postcard that measures 6 in x 4 in. It was mailed in 1898 and is a post office issued Grant. What were the standard sizes of US postal cards at that time? It was mailed from Waltham, Mass and has a fancy target cancel that I can not ID can you help me to ID this cancel and give me information on postcard sizes?

Thank you so much!

I think you have a UX10 or UX11. According to Scott two sizes exist, 155 x 95 mm for UX10 and 117 x 75 mm for UX11. You need a metric scale to measure this,

Your card is "normal sized" for that issue. Early U.S. postal cards vary a lot in size - clearly no standardization. UX10 (in black) and UX11 (in blue) show the extremes!

The Waltham cancel is a "duplex" style made of steel with the paired (duplexed) circular date stamp and the concentric circle target killer, a style used in many cities.

The oval target killer is a rather common type used in many places. This example took me just a couple of minutes to find on ebay:

Some people may consider it to be a fancy cancel but others do not. It is nicely struck here, but there really isn't any premium for this type cancel.
