Hello,
I've inherited 2 stamp maps that appear to be from the 1960's. They are extremely interesting and have me sucked into a world of detective work to discover which are the "best" stamps and why! I'm not looking to sell I'm just fascinated in knowing more about them. Mainly to impress guests! I haven't seen anything like these online or mentioned in the forum. Are they something that's not very popular in the stamp world? They may be so common no one even talks about them! Anyway, I am going to add a couple of pics and hopefully someone may fill me in with some info I don't know. I am just starting to learn about perforations and scott numbers so I'm still dazed and confused.
Please note there is no penny black on the world map it is of course missing along with the Canada christmas stamp.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have not seen maps with stamps placed like this before. Thanks for showing. These are common stamps presented in a fun learning experience format with a nice display and topic starter to engage friends with.

A lot depends on how they are affixed. I wouldn't mind having one but if they are glued on they will deteriorate in time. Enjoy it while you can.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm sort of glad they are not so common. I have already had much interest and great conversations just from hanging these in my hallway. I already had to re-glue a few as they were falling off.

Well, Hawaii became a state in the second half of 1959, and the Union of South Africa was dissolved in 1961, so you have a lower bound for one map and an upper for the other. The value of these is in their curiosity, not their philately. Kinda cool. What are the dimensions?

They are just under 2' x 3' a nice size to catch the eye. I never realized how bad my geography and world history was!! Thank you for the info.

Very appropriately for a stamp map, looks like the 1898 Xmas map stamp was used for Canada.
