Requesting identification on this Proprietary Battleship block (vert. imperf?)
I would also like opinions on market value since I already purchased this but want to go back and give the seller more money if it is a vert. imperf and has significant value.
Thank you in advance,
Don

Blue crayon may indicate it was printer's waste that somehow made it out.

Hold on, I'll cut that part of the margin off and upload a new image! (just kidding)

But it is also quite poorly centered so it might indeed be printers waste? I always thought that quality was not a high priority on revenue stamps?

They're just ordinary singles. The question here is the lack of vertical perforation in the block.

This is listed in the Scott Specialized. #RB22a. Catalog value $12.50 per horizontal pair, imperf vertically. It's one of the cheapest imperf between varieties.

So now that we know the catalog value, do you need to contact the seller and ask for some money BACK?

The missing rouletting, in this case the vertical roulettes frequently escaped the BEP, going undetected by the examiners. This led to the switch to hyphen hole perforations on the Battleship stamps (listed in the Scott US Specialized), which were much more easily checked for missing separations. Collect them both!
