Afternoon all, I have two overprints on Palestine stamps issued in the 1920s that don't appear in my S.G. Middle East catalogue under Palestine. Have tried Gaza, Egypt and Jordan, as per the catalogue, plus various others with no luck. Could these be revenue overprints? The 2mil is a one line where the 1 pi is two lines. Any help would be appreciated. Regards DavidR
In November 1945 General Cunningham was appointed high commissioner and commander-in-chief Palestine and high commissioner Transjordan. He brought his customary courage and shrewdness to the difficult problem of attempting to mediate between Arabs and Jews, holding the appointment until May 1948 when the British left Palestine.
