I believe that the KGV issues of this design all had the rope not joined to sail. When the design was repurposed for the KGVI issues in 1938, the rope was uniformly joined to sail except for one position on the sheet. Thus the scarcity and high price of the "rope not joined to sail" version from the first printing of the 50c value. This anomaly was later corrected in all other printings during the KGVI era. |

You appear to have the common 5c stamp issued in 1935, perf. 14 - Rope not joined to sail (SG 111). Check your perforation - if it is 13 at the top & bottom, and 12 at the sides, you can start to get excited. The stamp was reissued in 1937, with the rope attached to the sail. |

It's the KGVI 1938 50¢ "Dhow on Lake Victoria" that has the premium for the "rope not attached to sail".  |
