Hello all, my name is Gee. I am a medical scientist in California and recently began collecting stamps.
It began with postcrossing but now I have developed a passion for postage stamps. I am lucky to have a sweet elderly owner of an antique store nearby who has been kind enough to answer my beginner collector questions.
I am starting with a partially completed H.E. Harris stamp album that goes up to 1971 and am hoping to fill the holes the previous owner had. Right now I am transferring them out of that album but finding the old hinges used have damaged a lot of the stamps. None are mnh and this is for my own personal enjoyment as a collector but it is still frustrating. I am also aiming to collect mint stamps from 1970s onward.
I am hopeful this stamp forum will be a great tool in my philatelic adventure.

Welcome. Hate hinges myself. I use Vario Stock pages for my collection. It's up to you to decide how to arrange your collection. |

monsterita Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ |

Welcome - I'm not new to collecting, but after a forty year hiatus I may as well be! There's a lot of great advice on here and it was very helpful to me in figuring out how to undo other people's poor hinge work. Going forward I'm going to continue to use hinges for common used stamps but I'm using mounts for older used stamps and anything mint that hasn't been previously hinged. |

Welcome. You should benefit from questions asked and answered on this forum. A very giving community. Enjoy the hobby.Sometimes I think about how in having today's information my collecting in 1965 66 would have been. I only had a few catalogs and a couple of albums. |
