So how does Raymond get his mail in JORHAT
addressing his return mail in NY NY ?
Does it get forwarded from APO#466 ?
No, it gets forwarded TO APO 466 FROM NY. APO (and FPO for Navy) post office designations were used in WWII so as to not disclose troop locations. NY and SF were the central processing points for European and Pacific theaters. Mail sent to any APO XXX, NY, NY would be forwarded to wherever the indicated APO was at the time. Some of them moved around, and troops moved around during the war. But APO 466 was always in JORHAT, from 6/17/43 to 10/27/45.
