I am guessing, but not certain, that this "DEL" duplex cancel is a special delivery cancel which simply indicates delivery at the destination. Anyone know for sure?

Gentle suggestion: It would be useful when interpreting postal history to have full front and back images.

Of course, how sill of me. Context matters. Here is the front of this cover. Which is why I assumed "DEL" was just "Delivered."

"DEL" is most likely just the special DELivery division of the DC post office.

(With this being on a special delivery cover and there not being a Washington, DC station or branch for which DEL would be a logical abbreviation.)
