I recently picked up a fairly extensive accumulation of the 5 Centavos issue of 1853-1865, sorted by described fly-speck flaws. None of which are described by plate number, position or even printing. Has anyone plated these?

Fly speck flaws are not always recurrent flaws in the plates.
You would first have to sort them out by printing dates,
then you can see if you have any of the recurrent plate flaws.

In the Sociedad Filatelica de Chile link you have a list of these flaws and retouches.
Look under PRIMERAS EMISIONES 1853-1866.

Yes, I was aware of that site, and it hints at someone doing at least minimal plating since they call out positions of each flaw listed. I'm looking for more detailed info though. I am aware that many, if not most, defects are transient. A lot of these though are things like a frame line extending 1mm past the corner, which just aren't big enough to be called out in the catalog, but could have been used to help in plating the design.
