Iceland Numeral Cancels /Numerals Cancellations- On Steiner Pages

Dear R ,thanks for the E-mail .I will make the changes as you suggested . I wanted you to see the whole collection before we put a price on it .E-mail me back ,I don't know how to email scans of pages so I put it back on here were you can see it .

These cancellations are collected both by the numbers and by the stamp issues ,so duplicate of the cancel in my collection is not the only factor in price but which time period stamp it is on .

Surprise that nobody here knows about this highly collectible area of Iceland philately .

Found a book for sale on this subject but it covers only half of the number cancels on this subject and they want $90.00 for the book . E-bay has a section on these but most are cancels of low quality and hard to read .

Facit's Special (Scandinavia) Catalog gives a complete listing (with values) and explanation of these number cancels. If you borrow a copy of this catalog from the APRL, then you will have the complete story at your fingertips.

FYI, with their very-helpful staff and internet / communication resources, I have found that you can get most of what you might want without traveling.

I got a older copy of Facit from a friend ,gave it to me because it was collecting dust on his bookcase .These cancels are a highly collecting area in Northern Europe .

Just received the FACIT 2022 Scandinavia classic specialized - great resource, bilingual Swedish/English, covers up to 1951. Quick shipping from Nordfrim. Among many other things, has info on numeral cancels for Denmark, Iceland & Norway.

I've been using Facit for some time on a sideline of the numeral cancels of Denmark, but only on the 1864 4sk. Several of the numbers are really tough to find that late yet are relatively easy for the 4sk browns from the earlier years.

Google now has this page in their search of Iceland cancels .......that should bring new eyes to this website .

Has anybody seen the final price today at Dutch Country Auction for these Iceland Number cancels ?

They had a lot # 1160 with a est. of $200.00 to $300.00 , thought it would be good to pick up this lot ,maybe even getting it for under estimate . Was I surprised the lot with juice went for around $2310.00. I dropped out at near $350.00 ........They must of had a strong Iceland collector crowd watching and bidding on those Iceland stamps today .
