Collecting 20th Century Booklets In The 21-St

For those of you who collect older 20th century booklets: German, French, American, or from wherever, what are your impressions of the field/market? Do you get the sense it's a less popular field than in the past, or more? Material easier to find? Prices?

Just looking for a sense of the meta.

US - less popular. Common stuff easier to find. Uncommon stuff still uncommon and fewer dealers selling the uncommon.

I agree that the uncommon ones that people are looking for remain pretty uncommon. Consider also that bad pane centering or trimming is often the case with many booklets, so finding quality ones has always been difficult. Even the "pubs", the stamp combinations with ad labels from booklets, are pretty elusive for all but the commonest.

I'm just not seeing enough (foreign booklets) at all to get a handle on the booklet market if one could even do that. There are sellers out there offering booklets for extremely high prices but I'm not seeing buyers at those levels.

Booklets are well received here in Canada. The panes are collected both mint and used. There are some collectors who try to create booklet panes out of used singles. I would also point out that the Canadian specialist catalogue, "Unitrade" lists booklet singles as well as complete panes. Other collectors I have met try to get used singles on cover as well.

I notice that of all the products that sell on ebay at least, the UN's Prestige Booklets show a decent track record. They seem to highlight World Heritage Sites so the appeal may be through a stamp you have a chance at traveling from the comfort of your home.
