Pshann, the sheet of stamps has a white selvedge (margin) all the way around.
That stamp is from the top left corner of a sheet (position 1) and it shows the plate number, 3.
Eight plates were used, each with 120 impressions.

I tried looking up the word "sturt" and what I came up with makes absolutely no sense. Please, what is a sturt?

Charles Sturt was an early Australian explorer. The stamp commemorated the centenary of the exploration of the River Murray.

Look carefully at the rightmost stamp, you'll see his name.

Are we talking about the fading or the plate number?

Bobby, my presumption was that Pshann wanted to know why the Sturt stamp had the white selvedge (including plate number) attached to it.

Pshann seemed satisfied with my response.

As for the shade, the colour of that scan/item looks quite washed out and/or unreliable, judging by the look of the halfpenny!
