The best source of informaiton on Canadian Fakes and Forgeries is Ken Pugh's series The B.N.A. Reference Manual of Fakes, Forgeries, and Counterfeits. If you look at his works you'll think that the entire area is riddled with fakes. In fact, they are relatively scarce. Check out his work at https://kenphughphilately.wordpress.com/

Hi Stamp Collector - Unless you plan on going on a binge purchasing expensive early classic Canada you may want to focus on how to spot stamps that have been regummed, repaired and reperforated. Those will be what you come across the most in your journey.

PS: Learning how to spot the three "R"s will pay dividends no matter what area you collect, not just Canada.

This is also great info. Do you have any good specific resources on this?

If you are buying any expensive stamp, it is best to buy it with a certificate from a recognized expertizer.

Welcome.
The search feature on the forum can lead you quite quickly to good information. For example, a search on "regummed" brings up what may be a helpful discussion at https://goscf.com/t/72784.
