Thanks all for the replies and the reference pointing to the RMS Nascopie. It sent me on a search to find out more, which led me to these very interesting links.
To be honest, I am happy this cover was not one of the many thousands of sent for philatelic covers (or so it seems).
I found the recipient (Ara J. Nigosian) 1923-1994, last known address was Benicia, Calif where I was living at the time and at some point picked it up.
