Does anyone know what this stamp might be? It has no watermark that I could discern, has a c triangle and a nice carmine color. There does not seem to be any modification to the margins…that I can tell. Interesting at least! I have hundreds of these 1895 type 2 cent washington stamps but this is the only one like this I have.
To me it looks like there are small notches on the left side both on the top edge and on the bottom edge. If that is correct, then it looks like the perforation has been clipped of with scissors. A higher resolution image would help to determine it.
Look closely at the bottom cut, compare the edge of the stamp with the edge of the stamp design. Also look closely for small indents on straight edges (indicating reminder perf holes). Don
