I just purchased these colour progressive proofs of the 1981 45c Fish definitive of Tuvalu (Scott 108A, SG 117B). It is my all-time favourite Tuvalu stamp and a great find for me . I will be drooling over the images until the stamps arrive. There are 5 different states of the brown border within the final twin panes printed, and many positional varieties. I will post some later.

They are lovely, a great find.
Progressive Proofs always look so attractive.
But often expensive too.
Did you break the bank ? |

Londonbus1: I got them as a Buy it Now for a great price, I did not have to sell a kidney like LaSwabbie Philby: I am constantly buying those Tuvalu fish sets, regular and Official, there are so many printings/states/varieties of all values. How much do you want? |

The catalog numbers for the complete set of Tuvalu Fish Officials is O1-19 for both Scott and Gibbons. However, I understand Gibbons also lists some of the printing varieties as sub-numbers, for the typo and litho overprints, and the fine and coarse border screens. Anyone with a Gibbons catalog who can get me those numbers? Thanks! |

If no one comes up with a better result, I can email you 1993 numbers, mostly sub listed as "a" in all groups for the litho. The fine and coarse screens are mentioned but do not attract a sub listing letter, hence better to hold out for a newer reference, If indeed they are listed.
BTW I like to interpret the heraldry of arms, I wonder if you know the story behind the Tuvalu emblem? and the motto. I havn't wikied it yet.

Rod, "Tuvalu mo te Atua" means "Tuvalu and the Almighty" (God).
The building is a Maneapa, which is a traditional village meeting house. The waves and shells below represent the nation's dependence on the sea.
The actual design of the arms was submitted in a local contest in 1977. |
