Hello and I hope this is the correct place to ask for help.
First is a UX27. Is this a cracked plate causing the green line across the stamp? If not, what is it called and what was it caused by? And any possible guess to a value?

Thanks for any help.
Bob

Yes, probably a stray fibre, possibly from the plate wiper. Value depends on what someone is willing to pay for it but don't pack your bags for a winter vacation.

Hey. Thanks for the input. What makes you think it could be a strand of string or fiber and not a cracked plate? Sorry for the questions but I am trying to learn.
Thanks again,
Bob

Missing design around fiber on left, the uneven edges of the printed part of the fiber and small portion of missing design on both sides of the length of the fiber. A crack just severs design elements, not deletes them.

I will add that this is much more interesting and more rare then plate damage.

Wow. Nice. Thanks for the info. This is a great site for getting information. As I usually do when asking for help, I am going to print out the information and keep it with the Postal Card.
Thanks again!
Bob

You could say this is a linear version of a "donut", a more common EFO type.

The "hole" in the donut raises the die slightly so no ink is imparted immediately around the "hole".

The same sort of thing is happening with OP's UX27.

Postal stationery is certainly not my area, so this is strictly conjecture based upon things I have seen in other areas. The boldness of the mark in conjunction with the precise positioning almost look like a deliberately obliterated plate that was subsequently unintentionally used on the press.

You occasionally see this in the numismatic world, where coin dies were permanently defaced/obliterated prior to disposal to prevent fraudulent reuse, and there are instances of them having been subsequently used unintentionally.

Regardless, it's a visually bold item that IMO a specialist will definitely want.

Hey everyone. Thanks for the input. There are several possibilities of what it could be. I am glad I posted this because I thought it may have been a cracked plate. Wow I have a lot to learn.
Thanks everyone.
