Reference my ebay listing 194669658993, US 36b, I have had it listed for quite some time now without much interest. Just wondering what you all think the listing price should be? Any other suggestions will be appreciated as well. John

A quick look at the ebay 'comps' show several other 36B covers including several covers carrying two stamps (international rate). They are listed in the $400 - $500 range and have gone unsold for years (listings started in 2019). There is also a cover with a single 36B listed at around $500. Covers are hard to compare since many factors (condition, cancels, contents, etc.) can come into play and demand can also be difficult to gauge. If you are not getting any interest (with your 'make offer') then you might consider dropping the price. You might also consider sending it in for a cert; higher value single items sometimes become easier to pull the trigger on if the item has a cert. Don |

Thank you Don, I forgot about checking ebay for comps. Yes, getting it certified has been on my mind and the forms are in hand to do so. I have some other covers in or about this price range that I will be sending in also. Thanks for the nudge. John |

Covers to England list a bit lower for 36b than 36 in scott specialized. Stamps alone go for $20-$120 used on ebay from what sold listings show. No covers of 36 or 36b come up under recently sold on ebay. Siegel power search has lots of them going for between $70 and $125 in recent years, with many, many attempting sales with "passes" (no realization), so it seems interest may not be as high as catalog value would suggest unless the cover is very special in some way (in which case the prices get quite high on Siegel). If I were shopping for one, I'd guess $140 would be highest I'd go. |

IMHO a cert is not necessary and won't help move the cover. The problem is that it is a courthouse cover with heavy file folds and is reduced at left. Your market is basically limited to someone looking for 6x rate cover (paid 4 x 3˘ and due another 2 x 3˘) which is a thin market. |

James and SPQR, thanks for your input. I greatly appreciate you comments as well as the research!
In light of your comments, I won't tell you what I paid for it years ago!!!

This wasn't the intended use for the stamp so catalog values are not particularly instructive. If I had the cover I'd have priced it for ebay sale at $500. There are condition issues but it's an unusual use for the specialist (as noted, thin market these days). |

jomic-3139, By the way, you are able to link your ebay listings to this forum. If you notice the icons above some members posts will show ebay, that is a link to their listings. If you look on this thread you will see that 51studebaker or Don, and paperhistory are also ebay sellers. Good luck. |

Giving that some thought rogcam. I'll wait awhile and see what happens with the price reduction and then if no takers, I'll send it off for a cert.
