I have a stamp with weak perfin so the paper remained in the holes. Forcing the paper out will damage the stamp.
How should I present it in my collection? The only idea I have is to place it in my stock book with its back towards me.
Any other ideas?

Try taking a picture with a strong side light. I've found that helps bring out details. Display them together.
Or maybe retroreveal.

Hmmm, a few ideas:
-display normally... sometimes perfins are cleanly punched, sometimes not
-find a replacement version with clean holes
-display normally, with an illustration of a clean version next to it

I feel that reversing/flipping the block defeats the purpose, in a way. Not only does the perfin become tough to read, you wind up staring at a bland, creme-colored back instead of what probably a very nice design on the obverse.

thanks for both inputs. As long as I know that it's there, it's enough. My collection doesn't get too many visitors. Or any.

I scan the back, then employ "Paint" to fill in the dots.
I use it generally to identify difficult punctures.

(Did not work in this case) Australian KGV sideface.

So now I know it is called "blind perfin". Good
Guess it's time to fix/replace my printer/scanner. Don't you just love HP that when your printer malfunctions you get an error message: "There's a malfunction with your printer." How informative.

I don't worry about the blind perfins. If I can make out the pattern I just put them in alphabetical order in clear Vario stock sheets with the backup upwards and the front facing the other way.

I use black divider sheets between these sheets to give good contrast.

Here's a random (and pretty nondescript) selection from my collection.

These are part of my British perfins starting with the letters "LB":

I see that at least one of mine is out of alphabetical order!

nigelc, nice collection and presentation. Alas, how will you present a blind perforation like rod's?

My answer to perfins is to pass them on to a friend who makes a special collection of them. Life is too short to collect everything. :-)

Rob,
you are only limited to your imagination

I place a written tag alongside blind perfins, unless I have a readable one in stock.

Or, you can make a private page ...........

Nice write-up Rod.

Here's another Junior Army and Navy advert that I saw on the internet:

I like the wording, "Young officers may safely rely upon ...".
