Hi! I am a newbie and am having lots of fun putting stamps in my albums. BUT I am stumped with these two. At first I thought they were faded, but they are aren't uniform which makes me think they were printed that color. Of course I am probably mistaken. I would love to know why the 2 cent is a distinct peach shade instead of red and the 3 cent a distinct gray color instead of purple. Any ideas would be welcomed!

The wartime and post-wartime printings of these work-horse stamps of the teens vary in shade quite a bit. What you describe is within the normal range, although posting images would indeed be helpful.
