Chile Air Mail Cover Cleanup Question

I'd like to try and clean up this envelope. I was thinking about maybe ironing the top using wax paper and a low heat setting. Of course, I would stay away from the wax with the iron!
Also, could anyone suggest how I might clean up the bottom perfs on the bottom stamps?

If you HAVE to have it cleaned for whatever reason, let a professional do it. You and I can only screw it up badly

I would leave it alone, other than to insert a couple of sheets of acid-free card stock to prevent the wax from eventually staining through to the front panel of the envelope. And then put the envelope in a plastic sleeve or glassine envelope to prevent the wax seal from damaging other items.

The lightweight paper used in these old airmail envelopes often used in Latin American countries from this era tends to be of relatively poor quality and most covers that used these are oten in a state of disintegration, such as this one. Trying to "restore" such a cover would likely end in causing far more damage to this fragile paper than it could fix.

Anything you do to clean or straighten or fix will be met with disaster and regret. Leave it be, or at most use something to isolate the was seal.
