Good day! I'm in the process of moving the parcel post stamps of Italy from Scotts to Steiner pages. My question involves the difference between the 1946-54 parcel post issues from the 1955-59 issues. The Scott catalog says the later issues are "without imprint".
I can't determine what they are referring to, and would appreciate your direction.
OK, I guess that explains that! Thank you much for taking the time to enlighten me. I really did what net research I could before I called here for help.
I find the marriage between Scott and Steiner, often identifies lesser known varieties, that one may miss when sorting / mounting stamps. (Steiner may have spaces for them)
I cite the Unwatermarked definitives (Transport) of Hungary.
The only 2 pairs of Parcel stamps with the printer's imprint are the 20 lire and 30 lire stamps from 1973, being reprints of the 1955 series, none of which had an imprint. The significant difference between the 1946-54 issue and the 1955-73 issue is the change of watermark. The earlier ones had the Winged wheel watermark, whilst the 1955-73 ones had the Stars watermark.
Yikes, I was just going to question that! Last evening I checked watermarks on all the stamps, and separated the "stars from wheels". Having stamps with "wheels" and not an imprint was throwing me..........
