Can anyone tell me who forged this stamp? Album Weeds does describe Panelli and Oneglia forgery designs, but this one is simply titled "Forgery". I am curious as to who may have created it.
Thank you!

Riley - I would call your stamp a crude reproduction rather than a real attempt at a forgery.

In any case I have posted this link before that you may find interesting:

thank you rogdcam.
The link you provided is a great resource. Under the 11A notes, it does say that forgeries of this issue were poorly done (check!), and it describes then spike at the base of the letter "J", as my stamp has. Thank you once again.

Riley111 : thanks for sharing. I only collect Newfoundland items so appreciate the time to upload and share.

I agree with rogdcam that is is more a crude repro rather than a "forgery". With respect of course, and noting that this is subjective.

The link provided is the Bible on forgeries, and you will note that many of these were done quite some time ago (and are somewhat collectible). Meaning - people actually pay real money for some of the old forgeries!

Also, on a minor tangent of trivia: the guy who wrote this definitive PDF is Ed Wener and an interesting guy. He moved to New Zealand and lived there for many many years until his passing. Probably one of only a handful of NZ based experts with Newfoundland stamps.
