Found this Wilding Combination FDC today with an improper 1st Day of Issue CDS cancel. This is a 1954 Issue, not 1962. Even the Jan 13 is off.

Hi Steve,
do you have any ideas how to explain that?
I see "day of issue" is "first" or "1st" printed there?

Well, I was typing a long explanation and then noticed that the tagged issue was printed Jan 13, 1962. I see no evidence of tagging on these stamps, no matter how hard I look. So, that must be it. Evidence of tagging has faded away.

There appears to be some evidence of the yellowish Winnipeg phosflourescent type of tagging on those stamps. Almost looks oily staining. It will only glow or flouresce for a very short period of time after the longwave UV lamp is turned off and viewable in a very darkened room.
